We all know how amazing Portal is, since we operate a fansite dedicated to it and all, and while we (well, to be honest, only I) have read some of the interesting essays that attempt to show some of the subtexts and themes that can be found within Portal’s narrative, but who thought such discussions would make it out of the gaming blog or website?

Meet Michael Abbott, owner of the video game blog “The Brainy Gamer”, and a teacher at the Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, a liberal arts college founded in 1832. This may be, in fact, not only the first time this has happened inside the Wabash College, but the first time a video game has ever been on the syllabus of a college course.

GamesCom is over, but as a final treat, Valve has released some high-resolution pictures of their Portal 2 demo on their FTP. Said FTP is inaccessible (to us smelly amateur LambdaGeneration folks), but thankfully, Halflife2.net is hosting the images. They have lovely leaky ingame prefixes. “sp_sabotage”, you say? Mwhahahaha! Deliciously not-so-informative knowledge fills my brain!

Oh my god. The day has been so busy, I’m about to jump off a bridge. To you, it might  seem like we haven’t posted anything, but that’s because most of the guys (and forum posters, I might add) have gone inexplicably missing. I, however, have worked my ass off. Somehow, it’s like the Rapture popped up, and now Dom and I are all that’s left of the site.

Proving once and for all that Valve supports all of their products, this Alien Swarm update adds a pinch of life to the short-lived game.

You think with all of the horror mods, or worse, “horror-action” mods, you think people would finally realize They Hunger did it best 11 years ago. But no, the onslaught continues.

Well, for good or bad, Nightmare House 2, the sequel to the 2005 mappack “Nightmare House”, (which for the love of me, seems to have VANISHED from the Internet, along with its remake or something) has finally been released after 3 years in development.

I’d say “get ready for more reused Stalker screams, more charcles spammed all over the maps”, but then Ale- ahem, Mr. Malkin would terminate my employment. I’m already on probation, folks.

Some may know Wilson Chronicles as the ambitious GoldSrc mod whose development was cancelled a few months ago, and development assets kindly released to the public.

What you probably weren’t betting on, however, is that they were making a Source mod alongside it.

Yes, all those confusing Source-here GoldSrc-there trailers finally paid off, and the mod is alive and well. For now.

The folks at PC Gamer have just posted a very informative little interview with Chet of Valve, on The Sacrifice, the comic, and a few other topics.

Valve has revealed “The Sacrifice” today, a new expansion for the Left 4 Dead series, but focused around Left 4 Dead 1, that will explain the circumstances behind the L4D1 gang being in Georgia, and Bill’s death.
