Dota 2 “The International” Championship Webpage Goes Live

Dota 2 “The International” Championship Webpage Goes Live

Featuring schedules, team rosters, and the as-of-yet undecided results, Valve’s Dota 2 tournament “The International”, taking place at Gamescom 2011 tomorrow, now has its very own webpage! It’s even got a small area for Dota 2 beta applications – you can send in your Steam account to Valve, and as the beta draws closer, you’ll be contacted with details on your beta status. Because of this, it seems like it won’t really be a completely public beta, a bit like CS:S’s beta update in May of 2010, which was public, but was similarly restricted to only a certain number of players. That was largely “first come, first serve”, but we don’t know if Valve will have any other criteria here.

The championship starts tomorrow, so be sure to check out the schedule and find out when and how to tune in. The first four matches, of groups A and B, will be at 10:00 AM CET (GMT+2 time). I know I’ll be definitely watching it, and reporting on it straight to you guys. Even if there’s the slim possibility some of you guys may not really care about Dota 2. Well, let’s hope Valve manages to get you guys interested! In any case, check out the tournament webpage here.

  1. Quoted from Dota2 page in steam shop. “Valve is targeting this fall for a large scale beta.”

    • I know, but the wording in the application area leads me to believe they won’t be accepting every single person that applies. They may have some sort of criteria.

      • Either I’m stupid or blind, but I can’t seem to find the application area.

        • The application area has disappeared for now, as it’s been replaced by the championship live stream. Once the live stream’s over, the application area may return.

I’d also like to apologize for a really bad typo I made in my previous comment – I said “leads me to believe they won’t be accepting anyone who applies” when I meant “leads me to believe they won’t be accepting everyone who applies”. Sorry for the confusion, I’ve edited the post and clarified my point.

  2. I wonder how they pick applicants.
