It happened again. Another bit of what we want to believe is Half-Life 3 has appeared in the wild. But how big of a deal is this?
This is an editorial by Lilgreenman discussing the community’s reactions to Gabe Newell’s most recent comments about the future of the Half-Life series that were made at GDC 2015 as part of the first episode of the GameSlice podcast hosted by Geoff Keighley. For this week’s Community Spotlight we wanted to feature a project known as “Steam Database” or “SteamDB” for short.
Essentially, SteamDB is an online tool which catalogues information about games and applications on the Steam Store. It acts as a one-stop shop for pretty much everything and anything that you need to know about every single release on Steam, from technical data such as “AppIDs” and “depot configurations” to sales information such as DLC listings and worldwide pricing, it even gathers live player statistics.
UPDATE 3: Facepunch member J*Rod has created an insightful and very informative explanation of how Source 2 might work, based on what we’ve seen in the leaked code. If you can’t read code (or as I like to call it, hieroglyphs), then this is your lucky day.

Yeah, it gets better. Waaay better.
The game is indeed an actual playable game, and according to robotwo it has taken around 6,000 lines of code just to create the four rooms shown in his post. Gordon may look a bit chubby, but robotwo explains that he wanted to keep him as readable as possible on such a small scale (due to the limitations of the Sega Master System).
