Happy New Year’s!… Slightly Belated Edition

Happy New Year’s!… Slightly Belated Edition

Our site’s been down since the 31st, for what we hoped would be a quick transition to a wonderful new hosting plan, which would not only bring us some great new advantages, and a more robust server, but would also serve as a lovely New Year’s gift for you guys. Unfortunately, turns out people don’t work much on New Year’s. No idea why, so we’ve temporarily brought the site back online. Tomorrow, the upgrade will be complete.

Today, however, we wish you all a very Happy New Year. It was a pretty cool year for us, and while we wish it went a bit better, we’re not going to dwell on the past. 2012 will bring you guys the long-awaited site update – a LambdaGeneration 2.0 of sorts. And, of course, far more content and many more articles. Thank you all for sticking with us over the past year, and we hope you’ll continue to stay with LambdaGeneration in 2012. Because we’re not done just yet. No, not by a long shot.

So, have a happy late New Year, and hopefully your New Year hangover has subsided. Because more articles are on the way.

The LambdaGeneration Christmas 2011 Event Has Concluded

The LambdaGeneration Christmas 2011 Event Has Concluded

Our 2011 Christmas Countdown has ended, the iron logo has been rebuilt, and the silo office doors have finally opened. Our special holiday surprise was released right on time, at 12:00 PM GMT, on the 25th of December. While the event itself wasn’t as big as last year’s (we couldn’t get a new holiday theme going, and the countdown may not have been quite as cool as the advent calendar), the surprise: a new holiday animated special, is about fifty times better than last year’s animation. Give or take. Directed and created by our very own Jeff, and written by both Jeff and I, we think it’s pretty great, and we really hope you guys enjoy it. He also does “Valve: The Animated Series” in association with us, so be sure to check out his YouTube channel, as well as his DeviantART page, for more of his awesome work.

So, without further ado, head over to the Christmas Countdown page, and check the short out! However, if you prefer, we can take out the middleman, and you can check it out in SWF form, in far better quality, resolution, and framerate, (I told Jeff to relax and just give me the source files, so we can sell it for $20 in “remastered” form in like two years, but he just wouldn’t listen) but be sure to check out the page as well.

Presenting: Christmas With LambdaGeneration… Again!

Presenting: Christmas With LambdaGeneration… Again!

We’ve just entered the merry month of December. What are we going to do about it? Well, apart from playing the CS:GO beta, and being cautiously optimistic about the upcoming VGA’s, I don’t think there’s anything else that we have lined u- Oh! That! Yes, yes.

The Evolution of DE_Dust And DE_Dust2 – Brought To You By… Us?

The Evolution of DE_Dust And DE_Dust2 – Brought To You By… Us?

We recently came into possession of precisely 3 CS:GO beta keys. That’s precisely three musketeers that are currently roaming the servers of Global Offensive, kicking ass, taking names; and vice-versa. Or, if you will, a Holy Trinity of Valve fanboys (or fanmen, if you prefer), wiping out everything they see. Whenever they aren’t being wiped out themselves by the massive number of professional Counter-Strike players who are participating in the GO beta.

But then we realized that the reason why we’re getting our asses kicked so badly is that it’s a restricted beta. In fact, most people have no idea what Global Offensive is like. Some of my friends call it “GLOBAL DRUNK” or “global raping”. So, it’s time to show off what CS:GO is like. And since the beta itself is just a rough stress test, with many features currently in the works, what better way to show it off than a massive comparison?

Calling All Writers!

Calling All Writers!

It’s starting to get a bit lonely in the LambdaGeneration offices. Lots of news passing by that we can’t really keep up with, slipping through our fingers, largely because we just don’t have enough active writers. In fact… quite frankly, it’s just me. So we’ve decided to do something about it! Interested? Read on!

Goodbye, Roundups!

Goodbye, Roundups!

They had a good run. But after over one year in service, we are dropping News Roundups. Pretty much permanently. They may or may not return some day, perhaps in a completely different form, but this is the end of the Roundups, as we know them. At the end of the day, they took up valuable time that could be used working on other articles, they needlessly segregated each news week, and they restricted us to a certain time table. As GLaDOS said, “You just have to look at things objectively, see what you don’t need anymore, and trim out the fat”. We thank you for reading them, and we’re really glad if you enjoyed them.

So… yeah. That’s about it. Bless all forms of intelligence.

Another interesting news week – Dota 2 gets leaked, with some interesting references to Episode Three. On top of that, there was my gigantic Portal 2 critique, a colossal CSS update, and the release of the Death Toll beta for L4D2. And people say nothing ever happens in this community!
