Team Fortress 2’s Halloween Event is now LIVE!

News & Rumors Team Fortress

Man, what I love the most about Halloween is the spooky mood I get in. You know what I’m saying? Like, for instance, I feel spooky enough to pull of insane spooks that would be considered too spooky outside of Halloween.

It’s all good on Halloween though, because everyone has already been spooked by the Halloween event in Team Fortress 2, which is dubbed every year Scream Fortress. Yes, people. It’s that time of the year. The annual Team Fortress 2 Halloween update is live!

Team Fortress 2’s Halloween Event is now LIVE!

A few days ago, Valve released a comic to tie in a story for the update, as usual. This comic (which you can find here) details how this Halloween came to be, featuring Redmond and Blutarch Mann, moments after their death in the hands of Gray Mann. I’m not going to spoil the comic for you, so if you haven’t already, then by all means, read it!

Have you read it yet? Good. Then let’s move on.

The update reveals this year’s Halloween map, plr_helltower, a Payload Race map featuring the corpses of the late Redmond and Blutarch, where each team has to push the respective enemies’ employer’s corpse into what appears to be a gateway to hell. Interesting, seeing as so far we’ve only dealt with mainly control point and King of the Hill maps. The map also features a Loot Island, like in the two previous Scream Fortress maps. Unlike those, only one team may claim the treasure. What treasure? Your own Spellbook!

An action item, the Spellbook allows you to collect spells with different effects throughout Halloween. You can find spells that causes you to shrink, granting you double the evasiveness and double the speed. Or maybe you fancy summoning skeletons to fight you, or even MONOCULUS himself? The possibilities are limitle- No wait they’re actually pretty limited, but it’s still hella cool!

And yes, it wouldn’t be a Halloween without BOSSES. Introducing the Skeleton King*, the lord of all things boney. His army of skeletons, spooky incarnate, are awaiting the call of the Witching Hour, in which they will spawn and attack everyone in sight. Thought that was scary? Guess what, when they’ve fallen, smaller skeletons will jump out. Pregnant skeletons? Oh my. This year’s Halloween is gonna be pretty scary, if you ask me!

This update also comes 100 Halloween-restricted items, all community-created and glorious for you to enjoy! Bird heads, tentacle feet! One hat, which resembles a unicorn head with a suspicious pink mane, even has its own voice lines for every class.

So in my opinion this update sounds like the most interesting one yet. What do you guys think?

Stay safe, young skeletons.
