Valve Has A New Logo Intro Video – And It’s Even Creepier Than Their Last Ones

News & Rumors Other

The Dota 2 leak, despite representing a bit of a problem for Valve, has made many fans happy. Lots of revealing mentions of Episode Three, mysterious mentions of a space game titled “SOB”, and much more. But the real treasure hidden behind all these gigabytes? Valve’s new logo intro video.

Valve Has A New Logo Intro Video – And It’s Even Creepier Than Their Last Ones

Jesus tapdancing Christ. It’s like they knew the game was going to be leaked, so they purposely made the Valve intro as creepy as possible. In any case, despite the added creepiness, I think it’s pretty great. It seems like it’s going to be much more iconic than its predecessors. And hey, they’re using more of “Hazardous Environments”, or “Valve Theme (Long Version)”, which is always great.

This isn’t the first time they’ve altered the intro. Valve originally wanted it to be a a real-time sequence done in its very own level. Prior to HL2’s release, the logo itself was a bit different in both sound and image, but it was still largely the same. And then there’s the one they’ve been using since The Orange Box, with the more heavy-set, bald man.

And we even know how they got their logo, so that’s pretty cool. Oh, that’s not actually it? Oh, yeah, this is how they actually got their logo. So, what do you think of this new version? Let us know in the comments section.

  1. No mention that it’s also the new intro to Portal 2 and (from what I hear) CS:GO?

    • Never mind, didn’t realize how old this article was. Well, it’s now the new intro for two other games, so they didn’t toss it.

      • They’ve added it to Portal 2 – but they’ve changed it for CS:GO. While they have the new snapshot of the new model… he never turns around, the Valve logo doesn’t show up, and the image never flickers in any way.

  2. OMG THATS AWESOME

  7. Really interesting. I wonder if this ties in with Gabe’s statement about the games scaring the player.

For reference: “I feel like we’ve gotten away from genuinely scaring the player more than I’d like, and it’s something we need to think about, in addition to broadening the emotional palette we can draw on.”

    • Omg this is totally what I was thinking!
I don’t know about you but I can totally not wait what Valve has in stored for the next Half-life in terms of the scariness and down right f- creepy!
I think I can fully trust them to know it’s going to creep the living crap out of us 😀

  12. Interesting, I doubt now that the leak has shown it they’ll use it. IF they do though I think it’s a welcomed change of pace. It makes me think of Half Life 3, so who knows maybe all this was intentional?

  13. 0_0 That’s the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen…
