Surprise, Surprise: Apple CEO Tim Cook Never Actually Went To Valve

News & Rumors Other

Little under a week ago, it was widely reported that Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, had visited Valve’s headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Despite the fact that no proof was put forward, the Internet instantly caught fire, and we all began hearing reports (which were, yet again, unsourced) that this supposed visit somehow represented evidence that Valve and Apple were making a game console. Seriously. But – no need to worry about any iValve or iSteam thingamajig, as according to Gabe himself, this whole rumor was false right from the start.

Surprise, Surprise: Apple CEO Tim Cook Never Actually Went To Valve

In a yet to be posted, hour-long audio interview with SevenDayCooldown, Gabe confirmed that Tim Cook has not set foot in Valve’s office building:

We all sent mail to each other, going, “Who’s Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I’m not meeting with Tim Cook.” So we’re… it’s one of those rumors that was stated so factually that we were actually confused.

No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day. I wish we were! We have a long list of things we’d love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better. But no, we didn’t meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I’ve never actually met him.

It’s a shame, but at least this’ll finally mean an abrupt end to all those silly console rumors. However, the Joy of Tech might just have a better explanation!

  1. Masters of design… lol

    Good one!

  2. Obviously started by the apple fanbois to draw attention away from the plethora of trojans pwning their os. I’m surprised lambdagen doesn’t check their sources before reporting this bogus…unless you guys are only interested in raking in page views rather than building a reputation of truth in journalism.

  3. Thank God! Screw Apple

    • I don’t get all the hate towards Apple. Sure, they might not have the greatest gaming gear, but they’re the masters of design in the world of computers. I love the Mac for it’s design, both exterior and software. And I simply can not pass the day without hearing music from my lil’ iPod.

  4. That’s actually pretty funny.
