Sneaky Valve Dev Wears Half-Life 3 T-Shirt To Game Development Event

News & Rumors Other

The Half-Life series has been a notorious cashcow for many moons now. Ever since Valve decided to take the franchise into a whole new direction, with yearly releases, bi-weekly DLC packs, and more tie-ins than you could ever collect, it seems like we just can’t get enough of Half-Life.

Especially becaus-jfsdjdewqsalamsdmmoa. Sorry, guys. Apparently my doppelgänger (a sort of Bizarro-Vic or something) emerged from an alternate dimension where… you get the idea. Started writing some horrid editorial about Bizarro-Valve’s bizarre business practices. Managed to wrestle him off my keyboard. But that’s not what this article is talking about. Is it?

Sneaky Valve Dev Wears Half-Life 3 T-Shirt To Game Development Event

Chandana “Ekanaut” Ekanayake, art director and executive producer for Uber Entertainment, the makers of the Dota-style third-person shooter Monday Night Combat, recently went to a games development event. No idea what that event was, but that’s not what matters. Here is a tweet he made approximately 9 hours ago:

All I’m saying is I saw this at a local game developer event worn by a Valve employee. twitpic.com/7mxh6r #HalfLife3 #ValveTrolling

That link leads to this picture:

Obviously, this T-shirt doesn’t look real, as in it’s not an actual HL3 T-shirt for marketing purposes. In fact, I think this is a fan-made mockup that’s as old as Half-Life 2’s release back in 2004. At best, this is just a joke from a playful Valve employee. But I think it’s a bit interesting how it’s “Half-Life 3”. Not “Half-Life 2: Episode Three”, because, trust me, there are LOADS of fan-made mockups for the Episode Three logo.

Hell, you know what? I’m not even going to bother. It’ll be done when it’s done. Time to play some of that Global Offensive.

  1. OH SHIZZ
it makes sense they won’t be making episode three anymore
    move on to half-life 3! 😀

  2. I’m from Seattle and actually one time I was getting on a bus and I saw Gabe Newell outside the bus, I banged on the window screaming Gabe but he did not see me. Anyways He was wearing a Half-life 2 shirt and this was about two months after the infamous E3 trailer (The 20 minute one). So it is possible for them to wear shirts of the game they make during development I suppose

  3. Why do you taunt us? Why?! I want that shirt.

  4. Wow, I wanna get into the CS:GO beta, but for now, I’ll stick to my dota 2 beta. I wish I had a Half Life 3 beta. Can’t have em all. XD

  5. Oh Valve.

  6. Oh Valve, everytime I see a HL3-related post, I die a little inside. Just announce it damnit!

  7. And for those of us unfortunate enough to not get the beta key. Go play some of that TF2!
