Portal 2 Now Available For Pre-Orders On Steam, And Even More Previews

News & Rumors Other

Yes, on Valentine’s Day, you can give your true love the greatest gift of all – Portal 2 on Steam.

Of course, you might be forever alone, in which case you should still buy it.

Portal 2 Now Available For Pre-Orders On Steam, And Even More Previews

Yes, finally, after almost ever other site had begun receiving pre-orders for Portal 2, you can now pre-order Portal 2 on Steam.

Pre-ordering now will get you a 10% discount, bringing the price down to 45 bucks. You’ll also get the original Portal for free. Already own it? Give it to a friend.

No news on any other bonuses, such as… I don’t know, the TF2 Companion Cube Pin? GameStop’s “Loader” skins for the Co-op Bots? The “Fancy” skins being distributed as pre-order bonuses at almost every other site?

That’s pretty weird. Still, it’s Portal 2! And these other bonuses might come at a later date… we hope.

The release date has also been changed from the 18th of April to just April, which is also pretty odd.

Valve has also sent out a press release giving us some info on Portal 2’s pre-order campaign.

Special pre-order offers vary at participating outlets around the world and include a variety of dollars off and/or exclusive in-game content for those who reserve the game for purchase before it is released the week of April 18. These include $5 off the full price, exclusive in-game skins for the coop bots (Atlas and P-body), and more. Check your favorite outlet for details.”Portal 2 is shaping up to be the most innovative title in Valve’s history, and to be a much larger experience than we originally planned,” said Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing at Valve. “As such, we are aggressively promoting the title with more retail promotions than we have put behind any prior release.”

Check out the blog post over at the official Portal 2 blog. And also head over to the official Portal 2 Store page.

CVG has also offloaded more Portal 2 previews, one focusing on the influences L4D has had over Portal 2, another being a full-fledged hands-on preview, and the last one gives some minor details on the Portal 2 Sixense Motion Pack.

Valve’s set to release a special version of Portal 2 next year with levels designed especially for Razer’s impressive Hydra motion controller. […]The Hydra version of Portal 2 will be available in a bundle released early next year, expected to cost less than $100 USD.

That’s about all for this article. Let us know if you’ll be pre-ordering it on Steam, and what you think about this whole pre-order skin thing.

  1. Hope I can preorder, I also hope the steam preorder gots some bonus content, another thing to note is that I seem to not get any discount apart from the 10% for the preorder, the 2 games pack is worth as just.. 2 games with only the 10% discount to each so 20%, its the same that just brough 2 games separatly, wich is not very encouranging right now.

  2. The price for some european countries is down to 38 euros (from 50). Seems to be permanent. And with the 10% off its just 34 euros (the two-pack is 60.8 euros) so even more YAY! Finally some justice for the european gamers in terms of pricing.
