LambdaGeneration’s Nuclear Dawn Giveaway

News & Rumors Other

It’s time for our first ever giveaway! And let me tell you this, it’s a big one! Like… post-apocalyptic big!

LambdaGeneration’s Nuclear Dawn Giveaway

Today we’re giving away a grand total of 15 keys (plus two special prizes) for the Source multiplayer FPS “Nuclear Dawn”. In case you’re not familiar with it, ND takes place in the aftermath of the “The Third”, a futuristic world war, that ended in a devastating nuclear firestorm that plunged the world into a New Dark Age. The year is now 2049, and as uneasy alliances are about to give way, a post-nuclear World War IV is about to begin.

Nuclear Dawn began development as a free HL2 mod back in 2005, but in 2009, it was acquired by InterWave Studios, and became a full indie release. Released in September of last year, it had a troubled launch, but post-release updates have made it into a much greater product. If you’ll recall, we even had a review of it last year, which was pretty positive. In little over a week, they’ll be releasing version 6.1, which might just be their biggest update yet, bringing additions, tweaks and fixes like you’ve never seen before. At the moment, they’re even doing their first ever mapping competition, called: “It’s A Nuclear World”:

The rules are simple: you have just over four months to produce a custom Nuclear Dawn map that conforms to these rules. The map can have any shape, form, setting or theme you desire. You can work on your own or with a team, by using only existing Nuclear Dawn assets, or making everything from scratch. What we are looking for is atmosphere and fluid gameplay, along with production values that can stand next to the existing maps. This won’t be a featured, or community map, but a full-blown part of the next Nuclear Dawn release, presented as an official standard rotation map.

For your troubles, and dedication, and love of the game, we will award 1000USD to the first prize, and 500USD to the second prize winners. You will also receive full credits in-game and on the website, as part of the Nuclear Dawn team. The contest starts on February 18th, and runs through to June 25th. Voting will take place in the two weeks following the last submission date. In order to participate, you must first create a post for your map in the Contests Forum, and introduce yourself, your team and your map’s theme. We encourage and welcome open discussion and feedback on all maps, but will not allow multiple posts about the same map.

Well then, let’s get started. To qualify for the giveaway, all you need to do is join our Steam Group. 15 randomly-selected group members will each receive a Steam key for Nuclear Dawn. But beyond those 15 winners, 2 other lucky people will win our two special prizes – the first one is a Nuclear Dawn Steam key plus a Handyman’s Handle and a Festive Stickybomb Launcher; while the second one is a Nuclear Dawn Steam key plus the entire Genuine Trine 2 promotional item set – the Genuine War Head was very kindly donated by reader, fan, and close friend Emil; while the Genuine Point and Shoot was donated by reader, fan, and good friend Captain.

So, that’s 17 Nuclear Dawn copies in total – and you could be one of the lucky winners! The giveaway will be going on for a week starting now – so it ends on the 14th of March, at 5:15 PM GMT. That’s when we’ll be randomly selecting the winners, so if you’re not in by then, you’ll be left out. Winners – you’ll be notified through Steam directly, and that’s also where you’ll receive your keys; so if you see a little guy named Vic sending you a friend request, accept it!
