News & Rumors Other

Yes, when they’re not doing podcasts, Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie also appear at Anime Midwest 2011, in Chicago!

Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie at Anime Midwest

Anime Midwest 2011 is the couple’s first ever convention. They were invited, and they did accept! They did a number of panels and also got to be guest judges at the masquerade. Here they are at the opening ceremony.

And here is Ellen’s panel, “So You Broke My Heart and Killed Me with Ellen McLain”, from the 15th of July:

That was only part 1, but here are parts 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

And here is their live performance of “Want You Gone”, done after the masquerade, and before the masquerade awards were given, on the 16th of July.

John Patrick Lowrie sure can rock a banjo, and he even puts on what seems to be a GLaDOS voice impression near the end!

They also did a panel together, “Voice Acting For Valve”, on the 17th of July:

Here are parts 2, 3 and 4. And right after their panel came a group sing-along of both Want You Gone and Still Alive:

There’s also alternate uploads, this one of Want You Gone, and this one of Still Alive. Sounds like Anime Midwest 2011 was pretty awesome. No idea if that’s solely because of Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie. If you attended, then why not tell us all about it in the comments section?

  1. I’ve seen/heard quite a few interviews and such with Ellen lately and I have to say… she’s quite annoying in real life.

  2. That crowd singing along sounds so bored. What the fuck.

  3. ELLEN MCLAIN. YES. OH MY GOD THIS IS SO AWESOME I TEAR’D.
