Day 2 of TF2’s Three-Day Pyromania Update Revealed

News & Rumors Other

What’s next in Team Fortress 2’s three-day Pyromania Update, set to be released tomorrow? Read on!

Day 2 of TF2’s Three-Day Pyromania Update Revealed

Day 2 of the update, titled: “City on Fire, introduces us to one new Pyro weapon and three new class item sets that have terrorized Downtown Teufort. Most, if not all of these new items, were actually created by community members on the TF2 Steam Workshop.

First is the Scout’s Public Enemy set, which includes two new weapons: the Pretty Boy’s Pocket Pistol, and the Baby Face Blaster scattergun. It also appears to include a new hat (a tan fedora, scarred by bullet holes), and a new miscellanous item (a large travel bag filled with money).

Up next is the Sniper’s Urban Professional item set, which features two new guns: the Cleaner’s Carbine SMG, and the Hitman’s Headtaker sniper rifle. It also appears to include a new hat (a black tuque, complete with fashionable black sunglasses).

Then there’s the Soldier’s Dumpster Diver item set, which includes one new weapon: the Beggar’s Bazooka, and a new hat (a helmet made out of team-colored scrap metal, which also comes with a set of tomato soup grenades).

Last, but most certainly not least is the Pyro’s sole new weapon: the Scorch Shot flaregun.

It was previously teased in a blog post explaining how community Workshop weapons are made, and it’s shown here in an actual scene from the upcoming Meet the Pyro.

Today, Valve also released a new comic strip showing the falling-out between the Soldier and his roommate, Merasmus the Magician (the wizard who was responsible for the loss of the Demoman’s left eye), which leads to the Soldier becoming a homeless person. The comic can be found at the bottom of the Pyromania webpage, by clicking the dented can of Captain Dan tomato soup. No new story revelations to be found here, but it is quite humorous.

Tomorrow will bring us Day 3, featuring the final reveals of the Pyromania update. It will also bring us the update itself, and the long-awaited Meet the Pyro. Are you looking forward to it? I know I am!

  1. New game modes, weapons, AND Scout Abuse?

I think I have something in my eye.

  2. I used to play TF2 A LOT back in 2008 and 2009 when it was all fresh and balanced and tidy, before hats and custom socks and all that junk.
I had to stop playing for a while, and when I came back it was a whole new game. The game I was pretty good at suddenly became the game I sucked at, and since I had no more time to spend on the learning curve I simply dropped it.
With the Piro release it seems to me we have come full circle and completed the classes, so here’s a crazy idea: maybe it is a good moment to wrap up the game again: I mean, when I was playing there was no background to TF2 whatsoever, now there’s monkeys in space and australian Schwartzeneggers and who knows what else, it was just an enjoyable game. Maybe this goes beyond the scope of this site, but I would surely appreciate a lot if someone did a comprehensive summary on what the heck has been going on in TF2 since its release, in a short format for people who, you know, have kids and family and jobs and *just have time to play* (i.e. no time to screw around with workshops, banana peels and hairy australians). If it’s not you guys maybe it’s the guys at Valvetime. Anyway, just an idea.

    • The backstory and ARGs are fun if that’s your kind of thing, but it’s totally irrelevant to the actual game. If you just want to play, with no Merasmus or monkeynaut malarkey, the only thing that changes are the occasional new weapons or maps. It’s quite easy to learn and get good at, even for people without a lot of time on their hands.

    • And if you still suck and just want to play with enemies without fancy weapons now you can play offline againts bots! wich work very well.

  3. finally 2 things in this update that tf2 needed 1 a sniper rifle the rewards headshots and a scatter gun THAT ISN’T A DOUBLE BARREL

  4. A new flamethrower better be released tomorrow. If not… well, what kind of a Pyro update would it be without a new badass flamethrower?

  5. Only item I’m really interested in is the scorch shot. Nice to see more continuity re:merasmus, though.
