Last week, Valve finally debuted a long-awaited 1GB-sized update for the CS:GO beta. And this was an update that sported a changelog the size of an office building, including: a revised and much better in-game scoreboard; and some incredibly significant and positive changes to sound engine spatialization. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the awesome new voice acting and faction characters – now all we need is a faction selection feature!
That was an incredibly solid and absolutely stunning update which turned my views on CS:GO completely upside down, and in a very good way. Of course, there are a few things here and there which Valve does need to add, but I’m sure there’ll be plenty of post-release content work to look forward to, like the huge number of DLC update maps Valve is working on, even now.
In any case, today, beta access has been granted to all those who have pre-purchased CS: Global Offensive on Steam, alongside the release of another beta update. And since the game itself is so affordable in price, expect to see a lot of new folks coming in the beta over the next couple of days!
Unfortunately, there’s no pre-purchase bonus for buying the game, apart from beta access. I was expecting a fancy little trinket in TF2, or perhaps in CS:GO itself. Instead, there’s absolutely nothing – quite peculiar. Which is a shame, but oh well. I won’t lose any sleep over it, what with the obscene amount of Steam promotions being done with TF2 these days.
Now get out there, and go kill yourself some terrorists! Quick, before Mann vs Machine comes out and I have to ask you to get out there and kill yourself some robots!
