We previously covered the announcement of a new Half-Life fan film called “Lambda” a few weeks ago however the director Connor Botts just put up the official trailer, which looks pretty epic.

The story is set just prior to the events of Half-Life 2 and follows a character known as Dominic Ryan, a resistance fighter who teams up with Barney Calhoun and Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2 in an attempt to rebel the Combine forces currently dominating the Earth.

The once Source mod, now Greenlit game “No More Room in Hell” has just recently released version 1.08.

Changes in this version include the FN FAL weapon, the highly demanded suicides by gun shots, two new official objective maps, two community maps, difficulty levels and new player spawning.

A recent survey by the Independent Game Developers Association reveals that most of the surveyed industry members picked Valve.

As a result of the tragic news about the recent death of Robin Williams, he’s being remembered all over the world as a comedian, actor and visionary.

But what many have forgotten is that he was also an ardent PC gamer, frequently showing up to major gaming events and proclaiming his love for the medium, even to the point of naming his daughter “Zelda”, after Nintendo’s oft-reincarnated princess.

But was he – along with other celebrities like fantasy-literature icon Terry Pratchett, British TV personality Jonathan Ross and nerd-darling director Guillermo del Toro, a Half-Life fan?

Minutes ago, a new post went up on the Team Fortress 2 blog, calling for T-Shirt designs for future merchandise. Enterprising artists are encouraged to upload their compositions to the Steam Workshop for all to see and vote on. Already there are over a dozen designs available to check out! The CS:GO competition ESL One Cologne started just a few hours ago.

Like many of Valve’s games, they can be very competitive at times. So much in fact, they are used for ‘real world’ competitions around the globe. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one such game, and it’s being played right now at ESL One, in Cologne, Germany.

Is Counter Strike: Global Offensive not enough to satisfy your Counter Strike needs? Well you are in luck; Nexon is going to release a new CS game.

Valve is once again attending Gamescom, Europe’s largest gaming trade fair, which takes place on August 13th-17th at the Koelnmesse exhibition center in Cologne, Germany.

As in recent years, they’ll be set up in the Business Hall, so there will be no public access to Valve’s booth.

LambdaGeneration confirmed this in an email to Valve’s Doug Lombardi earlier, who said that there will be no press or public showings planned this year and only business related meetings will be taking place.

But that still begs the question, what will Valve be doing there?

Half-Life: The Downfall of Evolution is an upcoming Half-Life live action fan film series.

We previously covered the same project in October last year when it was going under the name ‘Lambda Protocol’ with a slightly different team. It’s not quite clear what happened to the original crew or why the name changed apart from the mention of a copyright issue involving Machinima Prime.
