Vae Victis – Machinima Series

Half-Life

“Vae Victis” (Latin for “Woe to the Vanquished”) is a 2009 machinima series created by Eddie Smithson and published by Machinima. Vae Victis is well written and features a fairly equal mix of action and storytelling. With great filming and effects, but a disappointing ending, Vae Victis is still definitely worth checking out. More info and the videos after the jump.

City 17 – Fanfilm

Half-Life

“City 17” is a 2005 fan film made by Funatic Films. Shot entirely on location in Cologne, Germany with a Canon XL1 DV camera, this fan film features no CG effects other than the HL2 creatures and, of course, the Citadel. Video after the jump.

This particular version of it is the 2007 remake, featuring improved effects and additional CG clips.

“City 17” tells the story of a young citizen wandering a city that’s… changed. He will soon find himself confronted by numerous strange creatures and machines.

One of the first major HL-related videos, “City 17” is the original HL fan film. With great effects, awesome filming and an interesting storyline, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Gaming Heads, the merchandiser which has recently signed a deal with Valve to produce Valve universe-related merchandise, has just announced the first in their line of L4D2 based statues: The Tank.

This faithfully recreated statue of the Tank looks excellent, cast in high-quality poly-stone and featuring luminous eyes. Pre-orders are now live, so if you want one, hurry, cause there’s only 750 units worldwide, and they are released in Q1 2011.

The standard version of the Tank statue has a price of $299.99, while the “Exclusive” version (which is highly limited at only 300 units worldwide), which also features a to scale Pump Action Shotgun has a price of $324.99.

Left 4 Dead 2’s Mutation Week #15

Left 4 Dead

Valve continues their awesome L4D2 support with Week 15. This week’s Xbox 360 mutation is the encore mutation “Four Swordsmen of the Apocalypse”, which features all 4 Survivors facing constant streams of Special Infected with nothing but Katana’s, and this week’s PC mutation is also an encore mutation. “Versus Survival” is essentially the classic Survival gamemode, except the Special Infected are controlled by players. Combine Road – Music Parody Album

Half-Life

Combine Road is a 5-track parody album, based on the HL universe, created by Jonathan Lewis, the awesome composer who created the amazing G-Man’s Last Breath, and Phillip Marlowe, the creator of PlanetPhillip himself!

Combine Road features 5 parody songs: “Episode Three’s Just Fine” (a parody of The Middle by Jimmy Eat World); “Freeman” (a parody of Russians, by Sting); “My Combine Bride” (a parody of I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor); “Kinky Doctor Kleiner” (a parody of Dirty Diana by MJ) and “You Ain’t Nothing But A Headcrab” (a parody of Hound Dog by Elvis Presley).

Every single one of these songs is pretty awesome and hilarious, so check the album out at its official website!

The City 17 Machinima Series

Half-Life

Created by SON RAIHBOY and published by Machinima, “City 17” is a series based on HL2’s universe. While it takes a few liberties with the universe, and sometimes seems like a broken record in terms of plot, “City 17” is still a great series and we look forward to future chapters.
