Community Spotlight: Half-Life Fact Files

Half-Life

Do you want to learn more about Half-Life? To see the obscure? To witness the oddities? Then you’ve come to the right playlist!

The ‘Half-Life Fact Files’ is a small project by Rikki D’Angelo or more well known to the Half-Life community as Marphitimus Blackimus (or Marphy Black for short).

Self-described as “an instalment in this series of Half-Life educational film strips”, the project is focused on exploring the outlandish knowledge, obscurities and fascinations that lie behind the very fabric of Half-Life.

Community Spotlight: Half-Life Mobile

Half-Life

Welcome to the first Community Spotlight on LambdaGeneration!

To start off, we have chosen a small project from the community known as “Half-Life Mobile”. As the name may suggest, the project is an attempt to bring Half-Life to the mobile platform.

It’s an amazing effort which combines the experience of Half-Life with the technical potential of the modern smartphone.

5 Awesome Half-Life Tumblr Blogs

Half-Life

This year we joined Tumblr, the microblogging platform.

If you’re not already familiar with Tumblr, it has a predominant focus towards art and design and is used by thousands of creative individuals to share ideas, thoughts and pieces of artwork with the world.

It’s in no question that Tumblr has a huge Valve fan-base (or known natively on the service as a ‘fandom’). The fusion of creative individuals with the establishment  of Valve’s work has led to the generation of some amazing content, creations and projects.

We wanted to share with you a few of our favourite blogs that we have found from both our personal usage of the site over the years and also from what we have found after brining LambdaGeneration to the service earlier this year.

Steamcast: The podcast about all things Valve is back!

Steam

Over a year has passed since the community-founded Valve-centric podcast, Steamcast, closed down. However during August this year, a countdown clock appeared on a sub-directory of the website with the title ‘2013’.

Steamcast was originally founded back in 2009 with the aim of supporting the Valve community by offering frequent and direct participation with listeners, however in 2012 the podcast closed indefinitely.

Valve Announces SteamOS, Steam Machines and Steam Controller

Steam

This week Valve introduced us to a trio of living room orientated products that will be entering the Steam Universe in 2014.

The announcements took place as a series of countdowns which occurred on rather peculiar and cryptic webpage on the Steam Store. The page, titled as The Steam Universe Will be Expanding in 2014, presented three small circles which individually became available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday respectively.
